Two female passengers at Manchester Airport have become the first passengers to be denied boarding after refusing to go through the newly installed full body scanner say airflights.co.uk.The passengers concerned were due to fly to Asia on the 19th of February but apparently refused to pass through the scanner after being randomly selected by airport security staff.
A spokesperson for Manchester Airport explained that "in accordance with the government directive on scanners, they were not permitted to fly".
"Body scanning is a big change for travellers who are selected under the new rules, which is why we have put strict procedures to reassure them that their privacy will be protected," the Manchester Airport representative explained.
The new scanners are there for everyone's protection but do stir up mixed responses from airflights customers according to the cheap flight and hotel web specialist.
