Growing numbers of holidaymakers are jetting to nearby sunny destinations in Spain such as
Palma de Mallorca and
Malaga on cheap flights on low-cost carriers.
While traditional carriers have seen their numbers drop by two per cent since July last year, airlines offering cheap flights and online booking have seen their numbers of passengers soar by 29 per cent.
In July 2007, 2.2 million travellers opted to fly with a low-cost airline to the ever popular Spanish holiday spots.
Palma de Mallorca and
Malaga are two of the three most popular destination airports for passengers flying with low-cost carriers.
With flights easy to arrange online, it is no surprise that the number of holidaymakers is up.
Growing numbers of tourists are also taking advantage of the internet to book their accommodation and car rental before they arrive at their destination.
This way their holiday is ready for them when they arrive.
