Menorca slows down even speedy F1 team

MenorcaFans of the Balearics will not be surprised to know that although the McLaren Formula On team headed out to Menorca to shave milliseconds off their car's time, they will return home wanting to slow down and spend more time on the sunny island.

The team of over 40 engineers took the cars to the island ahead of the Barcelona Prix, but between runs up and down the 1.1 mile private airfield, they had time to enjoy what the island has to offer.

Floating on the glasslike Mediterranean, Menorca is a tranquil refuge where the roar of the F1 cars must have shattered the silence.

Their speed must also have been record breaking, as the pace on life on the island is tranquil and steady.

The island is lush and lacks the monstrous high rise hotels of Benidorm, instead offering visitors accommodation centred around small resorts, or in villas.

Without the hustle and bustle of other tourist destinations, Menorca is a place to relax and the best way is to rent a car and travel the island's 100 plus beaches.

With short regular flights from the UK, the island is an idyllic place to slow down and unwind in.
