The Egyptian Civil Aviation Ministry has signed contracts reportedly with a Saudi Arabian development group to construct the new terminal which will increase capacity from the current 6.7 million passengers to 7.5 million annually.
Five kilometres from downtown Hurghada, the new terminal will cover 92,000 square metres and a cost of construction estimated at 587 million Egyptian Pounds (approx 66 million pounds sterling). Completion of the new terminal is expected for 2011.
