
Mad hatters have always been welcome at
Hurghada's various nightclubs, but now a nearby resort is to host its very own hat festival.
El Gouna, near the idyllic Red Sea resort, where waves of sea and dunes of sand meet to make a sun seeker's paradise, will be the scene of a fierce competition among guests and residents to see who can make the most elaborate, most original or funniest hat.
Competitors, who will be entertained with a night of entertainment which reaches a climax with exotic belly dancers, will be vying for the various prizes on offer.
As fireworks go off, the winning hatmakers will be awarded vouchers for some of the hotels in the area where holiday makers can find accommodation to suit their needs.
Also on offer are expeditions which could range from day trips to see the pyramids of Giza and night time safaris in the desert dunes to fishing cruises or diving sessions through pristine waters.
Relaxing spa treatments can also be had by participants whose exertions have earned them pampering and indulgence that can be found in the areas various luxurious spas.
