Egypt preserves is natural heritage

HurghadaEgypt's destinations of natural beauty got in on the act for global Earth day this Sunday.

Sharm El Sheikhand Hurghada, both places blessed with outstanding natural features and the kind of places where one feels nature at its purest, hosted events to raise awareness and improve the natural environment.

In Sharm El Sheikh and underwater cleanup of coral reefs was carried out. The area has breathtaking scuba and diving opportunities so preserving the coral and the crystal clear water is a priority.

On land, where guests can experience the heat of the sun and the beauty of the desert, the resort town of Hurghada held a screening of Al Gore's An Inconvenient Truth.

Both these beauty spots are keenly aware of the importance of a clean environment because clear skies, pure waters and pristine beaches are what brings the visitors back.

In Egypt, there are also historic reasons to be aware of and have respect for nature.

Visitors to Giza, which can be reached by rental car from Hurghada, will bear witness to the spectacular civilization that grew up on the banks of the Nile.

The Nile's annual flooding reflected the cycles of nature, imbuing the ancients with respect for the planet.
