Spinalonga tourist attraction reopns on the Holiday island of Crete


Tourists to Crete will once again be able to visit the one time leper colony on the small island of Spinalonga just off the coast from the village of Plaka. Spinalongas history has recently been dramatised in a highly successful television series based on the book ‘The Island' by Victoria Hislop. Now due to its heightened popularity caused by interest in the series it is to reopen as a tourist attraction at weekends after an initiative launched by the municipality of Agios Nikolaos in Lasithi, Crete.
