Heathrow expecting 850,000 fliers in 3 days

GenericHeathrow, London's largest airport, has said that it is expecting to receive 850,000 passengers during the July 27th– 30th weekend.

It therefore advised travellers taking a flight on these dates to make sure to arrive in advance to check-in and to be informed of the latest security procedures.

Liquids can only be carried in hand luggage and placed in re-sealable plastic bags, airport authorities reminded, and these should be separated before passengers arrive at the security search point.

Metal items, coats, jackets and laptops are also screened separately and travellers were advised that if they follow these procedures it would make the check-in process run more smoothly and efficiently.

"It is important that passengers adhere to the hand baggage limits which apply to all UK airports. Failure to do so may lead to unnecessary delays," said Mark Bullock, managing director of Heathrow Airport.

The hub is also planning to assign 500 additional front line security staff and install nine new security lanes during this period to reduce waiting times.
