Funchal's film festival fun

Funchal is seeking film fanatics; firstly to submit films to the city's international festival and secondly to vote for some of the festival's awards.

The Atlantic island is establishing itself as a year round holiday destination, with celebrity glitz and glamour of the silver screen expected to add further spice to what in the UK will be bleak winter months.

Funchal International Film Festival will be an opportunity to visit the island in relative cool of around 20 degrees centigrade, perfect weather for exploring the region's natural beauty including the picturesque nature reserve a short rental car drive away from the city centre.

During the summer, Funchal becomes a traditional hot resort area with water based activities and tanned bodies lying or playing volleyball on beaches.

With regular cheap flights to Funchal throughout the year the destination is a getaway when it is most needed and in November there is the added escapism of the world of celluloid and celebrity.
