Funchal to get jazzy with festival

Funchal in Madeira, is to play host to its eighth annual jazz festival in July 2007.

The annual event sees some of the world's finest jazz musicians gathering at the destination for three days of top quality music.

Held in the Quinta Magnolia Gardens, the event is to take place from July 5th to July 7th 2007 and features such acts as the Mad Fun Group and the Carlos Carli Quintet.

It's a great event for all the family, with kids and adults alike able to enjoy the sunshine and fun times through the music and party atmosphere.

It is the final day of the festival that will see the biggest number of acts playing, with Ithamara Koorax, the SF Jazz Colective with Joe Lovano, Miguel Zenon, Andre Hayward, Dave Douglas, Stefan Harris, Renee Rosnes, Matt Penman and Eric Harlan all taking to the stage to perform for the Funchal audience.

Brazilian songstress Ithamara Koorax is regarded as one of the four best jazz singers in the world, so is sure to put on a fine show for the crowds of jazz lovers.
