January to April is party time on
Fuerteventura, with every city, town and village throwing a shindig at some point during the period.
Musical, sporting and cultural events all make up a part of the festival season, which is one of the ideal times for tourists looking to experience Fuerteventura in full swing.
Small and sedate events take place during the week but the whole island really comes to life when the weekend hits.
Costumes play a big part in the celebrations, along with drinking and dancing until dawn when it comes to Friday and Saturday night events.
Plus there's plenty of fairground attractions and colourful and vibrant exhibitions on show to help keep children amused while the partying goes on around them.
Carnival is also an important part of the island's heritage and has survived hundreds of years, including attempted oppression by Franco.
As such, it is both an entertaining and cultural experience for visitors to the island of Fuerteventura.
Many tourism guides describe Fuerteventura as the tranquil Canary Island but inhabitants would disagree with this during the early months of each year.
