Cheap flights rise as holiday home ownership takes off

FaroTop travel agency airflights.co.uk reports that demand for cheap flights to Spain and Portugal is rising. A review of recent cheap flight booking patterns at the Essex based agency has revealed that flights from the main UK hub airports of London Gatwick, Manchester, Birmingham and Luton to Malaga on the Costa del sol, Alicante on the Costa Blanca and Faro on the Algarve has risen sharply. They believe that this may be linked to a report that properties for sale in Spain and Portugal have become a lot more affordable for us Brits.

Research released by the money exchange firm Currency Index indicates that a combination of factors have made buying in Spain and Portugal less expensive, with prices, mortgage costs and exchange rates all increasingly favourable, the Press and Journal reports.

Its reported that the Spanish Costa del Sol and Costa Blanca have seen the largest movement in affordability, with prices dropping by up to 30 per cent for a two-bedroom apartments being mooted. Airflights say that this view is reinforced by the level of activity we are seeing for cheap flights to Malaga and Faro as well as the normal favourites of Dalaman, Bodrum, Tenerife, Lanzarote, Paphos, and Larnaca. Activity is also strong to Bulgaria with cheap flights into Bourgas and Varna attracting heavy booking patterns.
