Despite the Strife, Tourism in Israel is at an all Time High

Perhaps it's the 60th anniversary as more visitors came to Israel in 2008 than in any year since the independent State of Israel was founded in 1948. "This is the first time ever more than 3 million tourists came to Israel in a single year," says Arie Sommer, Israel's Tourism Commissioner for North and South America, "and this underscores Israel's attractiveness to travellers of all nationalities, faiths, ethnic backgrounds and interests."

TripAdvisor Picks Jamaica as a Dreamy Escape

Jamaica has been voted among the Top Ten Holiday Dream Escapes, according to Trip Advisor, the worlds largest travel community in its December holiday travel survey. Jamaica ranks #7, ahead of Rome (#8) and the Bahamas (#9) with Tahiti completing the Top Ten. Of the more than 1,800 travellers surveyed, Hawaii was voted the #1 Holiday Dream Escape.

More travellers seek protection

Recent research by one of the UK's major tour operators has highlighted that customers are seeking the security of booking through an ABTA bonded travel agency rather than directly with a low cost airline. It highlighted that customer awareness regarding this aspect of travel has increase significantly in the wake of the financial failures of airlines in 2008.

Passengers look to Turkey and Egypt as they search beyond the Eurozone

A report by the Foreign & Commonwealth Office (FCO) and ABTA revealed that many cost conscious air travellers are seeking to save money by heading to countries outside of the Eurozone. This year travellers to destinations such as Dalaman and Bodrum in Turkey and Sharm el Sheikh and Hurghada in Egypt are set to eclipse the strong growth in passengers achieved during 2008 to these areas.
