Destinations in Greece, such as
Crete, offer people a chance to "escape" somewhere beautiful, an expert has said.
Les Calvert, the director of worldwide housing firm Property Abroad said that the country is very alluring to Brits, commenting that "it is still an extremely popular holiday destination".
"It is the kind of place where you really can escape from the realities of life if you want and get lost in its beauty," he said, highlighting the "beautiful countryside" and "fascinating history" as two of the prime attractions.
Mr Calvert explained that the picturesque islands are among the most popular destinations, saying that
Crete, the mythical home of King Minos located in the Aegean sea, is "probably the most favoured island".
For those active holidaymakers keen to explore the beautiful natural wonders of the island, the Samaria Gorge offers a stunning hiking trail that will allow visitors to get an up-close look at some of the typically Cretan plants and animals.
They will also be able to see the abandoned village of Samaria, showcasing traditional Greek architecture.
