Sharm El sheik snowed under travel Oscars nominations
Sharm El Sheik has been nominated for the travel industry's annual Oscars.The Egyptian resort town in the Red Sea has been nominated as best African destination in the14th annual World Travel Awards.
But not only is the place nominated: so have many of the area's countless resorts and hotels.
The nominations fall across a range of categories, highlighting the incredible diversity of accommodation and activities that Sharm El Sheik has developed to maximise its incredible natural setting.
One hotel has been nominated for Best Casino Resort. Another two have been honoured as candidates to take home the prize for Africa's leading diving resort.
Sharm El Sheik is also home to a nominee for Africa's best overall resort, best family resort and best spa resort.
The perfect holiday destination for sea, sand, sun, shopping and even, nearby antiquities, is on Egypt's Sinai Peninsula and is set between desert and a crystal clear sea.
The awards ceremony will be held at the Emirates Palace hotel in Abu Dhabi on May 30th.
